Personal Care Assistance

Assisting with essential daily activities such as dressing, bathing, and grooming.

What are ALIS?

Assistance with Daily Living, also known as ‘Personal Care,’ supports participants with their daily activities and personal care needs, typically within their own home. These services can include help with tasks like light cleaning, cooking, and personal care activities such as showering, dressing, and grooming.

How can I access ALIS through my NLIS Plan?

Assistance with Daily Living is a core support, meaning you can access in-home support through the Core Budget of your NLIS Plan. Since the Core Budget is flexible, you have the freedom to decide how to use it, as long as it remains reasonable and necessary. This allows you to access ALIS supports even if they’re not explicitly listed in your NLIS plan. We recommend discussing your in-home support needs with your LAC or Support Coordinator to help you plan the appropriate amount of support for regular use during your next planning meeting.
